In the course of watching "the cook the thief the wife the lover" in the Emerging media space on the large screen comprised of three smaller panels, we realised how such a division makes the whole piece more dynamic. Firstly almost every image evidently contained several coloured themes, that functioned as signifiers of certain mood or of character, (kitchen -yellow, green-jealousy, immaturity, greediness, evilness )(restroom-purity-white, red corridors-sinful ), by breaking the image into three sections it made the whole composition a bit different, putting emphasise on colour as well as providing viewers with an opportunity to observe almost every action on its own, as if giving more insight. Moreover the concept of triptych and number three gives certain associations with religion and the idea of innocence opposed to sins, good and evil.

This is an image that we took while watching the movie "the cook, the thief, his wife and her lover", the screen was separated into three sections which created what resembled a triptych, reinforced by the colour change on each of the sections. we were inspired to play around with colour and triptych art following this realisation and booked a studio to take practise shots, our progress from that session will be on a new blog post.
